SWAYAM / MOOC / SKILLS ENHANCEMENT COMMITTEE

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active–Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., Access, Equity and Quality.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are free online courses available for anyone to enroll. MOOCs provide an affordable and flexible way to learn new skills, advance your career and deliver quality educational experiences at scale. The primary objective of the SWAYAM portal is to help the disadvantaged students of India get quality education free of cost. Additionally, the courses offered through this platform reduce the gap among students by including everyone in the digitalisation of education.

In alignment with these objectives, the SWAYAM Committee of Ideal Institute of Engineering remains steadfastly committed to promoting and facilitating the effective use of the SWAYAM platform among students and faculty members. The Committee functions with a clear focus on:

1. Creating Awareness: Conducting regular orientation programmes, workshops, and information sessions to ensure that students—particularly those from academically or economically disadvantaged backgrounds—are informed about the scope, benefits, and enrolment procedures of SWAYAM courses.
2. Enhancing Accessibility: Assisting learners in accessing MOOCs by providing necessary infrastructural support, such as internet-enabled computer facilities, guided registration processes, and on-campus technical assistance to ensure that no student is left behind due to digital limitations.
3. Monitoring Participation and Progress: Maintaining systematic records of student enrolment, course completion, credit transfer options, and performance to ensure that learners fully benefit from the academic opportunities available on the SWAYAM platform.
4. Ensuring Academic Integration: Coordinating with departmental heads and faculty members to identify relevant SWAYAM courses that complement the institute’s existing curriculum, thereby enhancing academic depth and promoting blended learning practices.
5. Promoting Equity and Inclusiveness: Encouraging participation from all student groups while prioritising support for those who face socio-economic or educational barriers, thus upholding the values of access, equity, and quality as envisioned by the Government of India.

Through these initiatives, the SWAYAM Committee of Ideal Institute of Engineering continuously strives to integrate digital learning into the academic framework and to extend the benefits of quality online education to every learner of the institute.
