Smash & Serve 2025: The President’s Badminton Championship

The Outdoor Sports Club of IIE, Kalyani successfully organized the President’s Challenge Cup, an inter-departmental badminton tournament designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students. The event featured enthusiastic participation with 12 boys’ doubles teams and 5 girls’ singles teams competing for the prestigious cup.The tournament followed a knockout format with each match played up to 15 points, except for the finals, which were played up to 21 points. Students showcased tremendous energy, coordination, and sports spirit throughout the event, making it a vibrant and thrilling competition.

Opening Match (10:00 AM):
Team Whatever vs Team GlitchTeam Whatever emerged victorious.Second Match: The Boys vs Ace AllianceTeam Ace Alliance secured the win with a 2-point lead.Girls’ Matches Commence: The girls’ segment began with a singles match between Sumitra Das and Arpita Bagchi. Arpita scored 10 points, but Sumitra Das claimed victory with consistent performance.All teams displayed excellent gameplay. In the 6th match, Team Aditya received a walkover win as Team Sahil did not report to the ground. In a closely fought match, Team Early Bird won the championship, scoring 21 points against Civil Hunter’s 17.After an intense battle, Sumitra Das emerged as the winner, adding another accolade to her name. Participants represented various departments across the college, fostering inter-departmental bonding and healthy competition.The event concluded with a motivational address by the Principal Sir, who praised the participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and zeal. The President’s Challenge Cup 2025 proved to be a grand success, encouraging students to embrace sports as a vital part of their academic journey.
